Innovation: 7 patents granted in Scottsdale in week ending June 27

There were seven patents granted in Scottsdale in the week ending June 27, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is one less than the week before. Patents included a crispr fluorescent guide rna (fgrna) to understanding grnas expressed from pol ii promotors.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending June 27 belonged to Arizona Board of Regents on behalf of Arizona State University who filed in September 29, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
