A Phoenix-community laptop drive is putting computers in the hands of students.
Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation has partnered with Data Doctors to give students the tools they need to further their education.
According to Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman, it’s estimated that 85,000 students do not have access to computers or internet at home.
Those who would like to donate are asked to drop off netbooks, Chromebooks, laptops, iPads and chargers at one of the 17 Data Doctor’s locations.
They will then wipe the hard drive clean or donators can keep the hard drive. Monetary donations are also accepted to help support the students in need.
The first 100 devices will go to students in the Phoenix Union High School District. The program will then be expanded to the other school districts that have students who need laptops. More information about the program is available on the Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation website.
