Scottsdale is the top spot for relocation in the U.S., HireAHelper found in their study released recently.
HireAHelper is an online company that finds and books moving transportation. In addition to booking transportation for moving, it also compares different companies.
The company released their second annual study, which researched moving trends throughout the U.S. The study looked at over 25,000 moves booked last year to determine where people were moving the most, which was Scottsdale, Arizona, with 108 percent more people moving into the city than out of it.
In addition to tracking where people were moving from, HireAHelper looked at which cities had the most people move out of them. The study also looked at distances and timings of moves.
“This particular study stands out because HireAHelper’s data takes into account the small, do-it-yourself moves that are invisible to large moving companies that have traditionally published migratory figures,” Dr. Wendy Parson, from the University of California San Diego and social dynamics expert at Varsity Tutors, told AZ Big Media. “HireAHelper’s research offers a more complete and accurate reflection of society.”
HireAHelper's study found that 65 percent of people moved within the same county, 20 percent of people moved on a Saturday and 35 percent of all moves were during the summer. It also saw that 48 percent more people moved to Idaho rather than out of the state and 13 percent of all moves out of state were to Florida.
States that saw at least 25 percent more people moving into the state than out of were New Mexico, Maine, Arizona and South Dakota.
Other states, such as New York and Connecticut with -18 percent and Illinois, California and New Jersey with -17 percent, saw more people move out of the state. Cities such as New York City, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles also saw more people move away than into the city.
