On Saturday, March 14, the Vanguard Lions—current team of former Chaparral High School standout Natalie Scherzer—were defeated 81-73 by the Central Washington Wildcats in the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament.

The matchup, held at Nicholson Arena at 7:30 p.m., marked the team’s tournament opener against the Central Washington Wildcats.
