Monsoon season is approaching, bringing with it the potential for thunderstorms, heavy rain, flash flooding, and lightning that can lead to wildfires. Residents are advised to prepare in advance for these weather events.

Officials recommend developing a household emergency plan. This includes identifying essential items to take during an evacuation and planning routes in case of an emergency. In times of crisis, residents should look out for "Ready, Set, Go" messages on social media and news outlets.

The "Ready, Set, Go" protocol advises people to always be prepared for emergencies ("READY"), stay informed about events that might require evacuation ("SET"), and evacuate immediately when instructed by authorities ("GO").

Scottsdale Fire offers Emergency Preparedness/Ready Set Go presentations for neighborhoods, organizations, and businesses. Interested parties can schedule a session through their services.
