Are you passionate about fitness and have a sincere desire to help people achieve their goals?
Launch your career in fitness and exercise science by becoming a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Scottsdale Community College’s Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Personal Training helps prepare students for the NASM certification in as little as one semester, allowing individuals to achieve career objectives faster.
Students in the Personal Training program gain comprehensive knowledge of human movement science and functional assessments. The hands-on training is provided through extensive interaction with instructors and fellow students in a 30,000-square-foot gym and fitness center, providing the best possible learning environment for career success.
“Many students who wish to become personal trainers have a strong desire to help others,” said Robert Martin III, SCC’s Exercise Science, Personal Training & Nutrition Program Director. “Our educational programs give them the training and tools needed to help others transform their body, health, and overall lifestyle.”
According to recent data provided by O*NET OnLine, Exercise Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors are categorized as a “Bright Outlook” occupation, indicating rapid growth in the field. The median salary for Exercise Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors in Arizona is $46,910.
In addition to the Personal Trainer CCL, SCC offers fully-accredited Certificates of Completion in Advanced Personal Training, Nutrition for Trainers & Coaches, and Yoga Instruction, among others.
Many existing fitness professionals find value in taking related courses or completing certificate programs in these areas to help expand their knowledge and skill set.
For those who wish to continue their education, SCC offers university transfer options. Students can complete their general education coursework at SCC and then transfer credits to participating universities and colleges to complete their bachelor's degree.
