Mac Bingham's three-run triple in the bottom of the eight sealed a wild, 8-6 comeback victory for the Arizona Wildcats (37-22) over the Arizona State Sun Devils (26-32) on Friday at the Pac-12 Tournament.
Arizona's win knocked their rivals out of the tournament and secured a rematch against the Stanford Cardinal at 9:00 a.m. MST on Saturday morning at Scottsdale Stadium.
ASU plated two in the opening frame to take an early lead, but the Wildcats responded with a five-run bottom of the third to take their first lead of the afternoon. Catcher Daniel Susac crushed a three-run opposite-field home run to jump Arizona out in front and was followed on the very next pitch by a solo homer from right fielder Tanner O'Tremba. Second baseman Garen Caulfield polished off the rally with a sac fly to make the score 5-2 in favor of the Wildcats.
The Sun Devils went on to score twice in the fifth and seventh innings to take a narrow one-run lead, setting up Bingham's heroics. Three walks loaded the bases with one out for Bingham, who promptly laced a triple over ASU's center fielder on the second pitch of his at-bat.
Right-hander Trevor Long tossed a scoreless ninth inning for Arizona to slam the door shut and earn his seventh save of the season.
