Maricopa County residents will have the opportunity to exercise their rights as citizens at the ballot box during the Aug. 4 primary.
The Town of Paradise Valley Independent reported on several of the races that will draw voters to the polls in August.
There will be a number of contested positions for the Republican nod starting in the County Assessor’s race where incumbent Eddie Cook will face Rodney Glassman. Incumbent Allister Adel will not have a Republican challenger for County Attorney but will face an opponent from a trio of prospective candidates in the general election.
Clair Van Steenwyk and Steven Richer will face off in the primary with the winner facing incumbent Democrat Adrian Fontes for County Recorder in the general election.
The Republicans will have a full slate of candidates running for sheriff with four vying to make the general election to run against incumbent Democrat Paul Penzone. Former sheriff Joe Arpaio is running once again along with Mike Crawford, Jerry Sheridan and Lehland Burton.
Incumbent Royce T. Flora has drawn a primary opponent in Rep. John Allen. The winner will face Democrat Daniel Toporak.
