The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community announced on April 9 that it is accepting applications for a Professional Member position on the Salt River Gaming Enterprises Board, with submissions open until April 30.
The recruitment is important because the board oversees operations at Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort, which are key enterprises of the community. The board plays a significant role in governance, ensuring policies and decisions align with the interests of SRPMIC.
Ramon Martinez, director of public relations for Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort, said, “Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort are both a source of pride and a meaningful investment in the future of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, with the Salt River Gaming Enterprises Board playing a vital role in their continued success.” Martinez added, “The Board provides governance oversight for the properties, ensuring that every policy and decision is made in the best interest of the tribal community.”
Board members oversee strategic planning, risk management, budgets, financial reviews, ethical business practices and legal compliance. The position requires attendance at monthly meetings every third Tuesday at 4 p.m., as well as special meetings when needed. Applicants should have extensive professional or management experience; financial expertise is preferred. Familiarity with SRPMIC’s vision is also desirable.
