Scottsdale reorganizes leadership team for improved service delivery

Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton has initiated organizational changes to improve operations and enhance internal coordination. The aim is to keep senior leadership more engaged with daily service delivery and city priorities.

The city’s leadership team comprises seasoned professionals with extensive public service experience. Many have advanced within Scottsdale, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

“This leadership team brings a strong track record of public service and commitment to our community,” said Caton. “Our new structure increases responsiveness by reducing layers of bureaucracy, which helps senior staff stay directly engaged with the work that matters most to our residents. It also helps our 2,700 employees — who bring valuable skills and experience to their roles every day — do their best work and deliver the highest level of service.”

Key members of Scottsdale’s Leadership Team include:

– Greg Caton, City Manager: 28 years in local government management.
– Jeff Walther, Assistant City Manager: Nearly 30 years with Scottsdale.
– Joe LeDuc, Police Chief: Over 33 years with the Scottsdale Police Department.
– Tom Shannon, Fire Chief: More than 40 years in emergency services.
– Will Brooks, Assistant to the City Manager: Experience in various states including California.
– Dave Bennett, Solid Waste Services Director: Over 30 years in the solid waste industry.
– Monica Boyd, Senior Director – Human Resources: Scottsdale’s HR leader since December 2022.
– Kelly Corsette, Senior Director – Communications and Public Affairs: Nearly 28 years as an Arizona local government communications professional.
– Steve Denning, Facilities Management Director: Maintaining city infrastructure since 1999.

The list continues with other notable leaders managing various departments like emergency management, economic development, fleet management, technology services, parks & recreation, planning & development services, library & human services among others.

Scottsdale’s Charter Officers are appointed by the Mayor & City Council. They include:

– Sonia Andrews as City Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer
– Marianne T. Bayardi as Presiding City Court Judge
– Lai Cluff as Acting City Auditor
– Ben Lane as City Clerk
– Luis Santaella as Interim City Attorney
