Hundreds of local businesses in Scottsdale are preparing for Shop Scottsdale Saturday on November 29, an event aimed at attracting shoppers and diners seeking holiday gifts and venues for seasonal gatherings.
Old Town Scottsdale, which features 320 retailers, 100 restaurants, and more than 50 galleries, is the main hub for this initiative. Angelica Cipullo, marketing program manager for the city of Scottsdale, said, “Old Town is primarily all local businesses and shoppers can look to them for discounts and deals.” She added, “Old Town Scottsdale is a great place to do all your holiday shopping and a great place to shop local and a great way to promote a thriving economy.”
Shop Scottsdale Saturday will coincide with the Jingle & Jazz Tree Lighting Spectacular. This event marks the start of Scottsdazzle, the city’s community celebration. Many local retailers will participate by setting up booths or hosting pop-up events during these festivities.
As part of new holiday programming, twelve storefronts in Old Town will be decorated through the Tinsel Trail – Holiday Window Program. This effort pairs local artists with businesses to create window displays that reflect Scottsdale’s culture and holiday spirit.
The Jingle Belles will perform throughout the 5th Avenue Shopping District and Historic Old Town from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., contributing to the festive atmosphere.
City Manager Greg Caton highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses: “Supporting local small businesses means you are supporting the engine that creates two-thirds of net jobs and employs nearly 43% of the state’s workforce,” he said. “For every $100 spent with a local business, an average of 68% of that money stays in the local community.”
Small business owners in Old Town not only provide jobs but also support youth sports teams, contribute to nonprofits, and help maintain community events.
Several shops are offering special promotions for Shop Scottsdale Saturday:
– Gorgeous Things will offer escalating rewards starting Monday, November 24; customers spending $100 receive $20 off their purchase with greater rewards at higher spending levels.
– Scottsdale Southwest will give customers a gift with purchases over $100 throughout Scottsdazzle.
– At Quantum Art, mentioning “Scottsdazzle” provides shoppers with a 15% discount during the season.
Ambassador Information Carts will distribute gifts with purchases while supplies last.
Free parking is available throughout Old Town at public lots and on-street spaces without meters or fees; time limits apply. A map showing free public parking locations is available online via the Old Town Parking Map to assist visitors attending these events.
