Warm weather and a series of well-known events are set to attract visitors to Scottsdale in the coming months. The city’s event calendar for January and February features activities ranging from Western heritage celebrations to sports tournaments.

Western Week is underway in Old Town Scottsdale, celebrating cowboy culture through Feb. 1. On Jan. 30, more than 20 riders from the Navajo County Sheriff’s Posse will deliver pen pal letters exchanged by Arizona schoolchildren as part of the Pony Express tradition. The Parada del Sol Historic Parade on Feb. 1 will include floats, mounted riders, horse-drawn wagons, and marching bands. Following the parade, attendees can visit the Trail’s End Festival for live music, food, family-friendly activities, and free admission to Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.

The Arizona Indian Festival is scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, highlighting Indigenous communities with traditional arts, crafts, performances, and cuisine.

TPC Scottsdale will host the WM Phoenix Open from Feb. 2–8. “The Greatest Show on Grass” begins with a Concert in the Coliseum on Jan. 31 featuring The Killers at the venue’s notable 16th hole. Tournament play runs from Feb. 2–8; practice rounds on Feb. 2–3 offer free admission while ticketed rounds follow later in the week including championship events and the Annexus Pro-Am tournament weekend.

According to organizers Thunderbirds Charities, TPC Scottsdale has hosted this PGA Tour event since 1987 and it draws large crowds each year while raising millions for local nonprofit organizations (https://wmphoenixopen.com/).

The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show celebrates its 71st year from Feb. 12–22 at WestWorld of Scottsdale with nearly 2,000 horses participating in what has become one of the world’s largest Arabian horse shows since its inception with just fifty horses over seven decades ago (https://www.scottsdaleshow.com/). In addition to competitions there are interactive exhibits and riding demonstrations aimed at engaging fans of all ages.

Spring Training returns to Scottsdale Stadium between Feb. 22–March 22 as home team San Francisco Giants prepare for their regular season with Cactus League games held downtown (https://www.mlb.com/spring-training). Tickets are available online.

A Spring Training Movie Night is planned for Friday, Feb. 28 at Scottsdale Civic Center in Old Town; details about featured films and activities will be announced soon.
