The City of Scottsdale will introduce a new trolley route starting Thursday, Aug. 7, aimed at improving transportation for residents seeking food and community support services. The service will connect the Scottsdale Food Bank, Granite Reef Senior Center, and Vista del Camino Community Center.

The trolley will operate on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon, running every 30 minutes with stops at the north parking lot of Granite Reef Senior Center, the existing trolley stop at Vista del Camino Community Center, and the recently relocated Scottsdale Food Bank at 7601 E. McKellips Road, Building C.

City officials established this special route in response to the food bank’s recent move and expansion. The relocation provides more space to serve additional clients but lacked nearby public transit options until now.

“We wanted to ensure that residents who rely on the Scottsdale Food Bank and do not have access to personal transportation can continue receiving the support they need,” said Sue Oh, Scottsdale Human Services manager. “This new trolley route helps remove transportation barriers and strengthens our ability to meet the needs of some of our community’s most vulnerable residents.”

The trolley will also help participants access the Brown Bag Program. This bi-monthly initiative has shifted from Granite Reef Senior Center to the new food bank site and offers seniors fresh produce, canned goods, bread, and other food items. The new route ensures continued transportation for seniors and others attending their appointments or picking up Brown Bag provisions.

Residents needing a food box are asked to call Vista del Camino at 480-312-2323 before visiting the food bank.
