Renovation work on Scottsdale Fire Station 606, located near Via Linda and 108th Street, is scheduled to begin in January 2026. City officials have stated that emergency response services in the area will continue without interruption during the construction period.
To ensure ongoing service, crews from Fire Station 606 relocated last week to a temporary facility about half a mile from the original station. This move was made possible through a partnership with Scottsdale Unified School District, allowing firefighters to operate from the former Noah building near Miracle League Field and Cholla Park. The arrangement keeps crews close to the neighborhoods they serve.
“The safety of our community is always our top priority,” said Fire Chief Tom Shannon. “By relocating our crews nearby, we can continue providing the same fast, reliable emergency response residents expect while we make important improvements to this station.”
The renovation project has a budget of $7.2 million and is expected to take about one year. The current fire station was built in 1985 and requires upgrades for modern operations and accessibility standards.
Once completed, the renovated station will be fully accessible and equipped to house an ambulance, improving its ability to serve local residents.
Fire Station 606 is staffed by a four-person crew of EMTs and paramedics who provide all-hazards emergency response services similar to other fire engine companies throughout Scottsdale.
Scottsdale operates under a council-manager form of government where legislative authority rests with the city council; municipal departments like fire services are part of this structure as shown on its organizational chart. The city has been recognized among the top 15 safest U.S. cities with populations over 100,000 according to Forbes (official recognition page).
