The Scottsdale City Council is set to resume activities after its summer break with a work study session scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18. Residents planning to attend the meeting at City Hall are being advised of new security procedures that have been in effect since July.

The updated protocols at City Hall mirror those already implemented at Scottsdale’s One Civic Center. They include walk-through metal detectors, handheld screening devices, and bag checks at specified entry points. Visitors will find signage guiding them to the appropriate entrances and exits where these screenings take place.

Security officers are present on site to conduct safety checks and provide assistance as needed. According to A.R.S. § 13-3102 A, weapons are not allowed inside City Hall; however, a secure lockbox is available at the entrance for temporary storage of legal weapons.

Those attending council meetings or visiting City Hall should plan for extra time to complete the screening process.
