Most city offices and facilities in Scottsdale will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Trash and recycling collection services will continue as scheduled, with residents advised to place containers out by 5 a.m. on the day of collection or the night before.
Scottsdale’s annual Veterans Day Commemoration is set for Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the City Hall Memorial Lawn, located at 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd. The event is free and open to the public without registration. It will include remarks from local leaders and a keynote address by Air Force veteran Mario Valencia, who will share his experience as a survivor of the 1995 Khobar Towers attack in Saudi Arabia.
On the evening of Nov. 11 at Cattle Track Arts Compound (6105 N. Cattle Track Road), historian and U.S. Air Force veteran Joan Fudala will present “Remembering World War II: Scottsdale’s Military Bases, Home Front and Veterans — 80 Years Later.” The presentation begins at 7 p.m., with limited seating available on a first-come basis.
The Canal Convergence event continues through Nov. 16 at the Scottsdale Waterfront, featuring light-based public art installations focused on performance art, interactive works, workshops, tours, live music, and dance.
Due to upcoming events such as Every Woman’s Marathon, access to Scottsdale Civic Center will be restricted between Nov. 10–17. Limited access is available from Nov. 10–12 via north side east/west points; full closure occurs from Nov. 13–16; limited access resumes on Nov. 17 as equipment is removed.

Upcoming activities include Scottsdazzle—a month-long holiday celebration beginning with the Jingle & Jazz Tree Lighting Spectacular on Saturday, Nov. 29—and weekly ArtWalks showcasing over one hundred galleries every Thursday evening.
Ongoing programs feature performances at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and events hosted by McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.
Neighborhood College offers an HOA/Condominium Board Roundtable for board members only on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 1–2 p.m., while a class titled “Backing Up Your Data” takes place that same day at Civic Center Library starting at 5 p.m.
The deadline for nominations for Sustainable Scottsdale Awards has been extended to November 21; these awards recognize individuals and organizations contributing to sustainability efforts in Scottsdale.
