Scottsdale residents and visitors are reminded to mark their calendars for upcoming events and programs in the city. Registration for August swim lessons will open on July 21 for residents and July 24 for non-residents, offering opportunities for individuals aged six months and older, including adults, to learn how to swim.

In response to a recent incident where businesses along 5th Avenue were not notified of street closures due to construction, City Manager Greg Caton has mandated new measures to improve communication. These include additional review processes, proof of communication, audits for compliance, and draft templates for contractors. The city quickly addressed the issue by informing businesses, updating media channels, removing road closure signs, and establishing new access signage.

Residents can stay informed about city issues by attending public meetings such as the Development Review Board Regular Meeting on July 17 and the Scottsdale Housing Agency Governing Board meeting on July 24.

For leisure activities, Scottsdale Parks and Recreation invites everyone to Splash & Groove at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park on July 18. This free event offers splash pad fun with music from a live DJ. Another option is the Sunset Swim at McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center on July 18.

The city also announces upgrades at Stonegate Equestrian Park’s playground, set to be completed in July. New play equipment and shade structures will enhance the area.

Additionally, Scottsdale is hiring an associate planner who will contribute to planning studies across the city. Interested candidates can apply online.

For more information about these events and services or to report issues within the city, residents can contact the City Call Center or use Scottsdale EZ.
