Alexander Kolodin, a House Representative from Arizona, expressed concerns about election integrity following Secretary of State Adrian Fontes’ call for a Democratic revolution. Kolodin’s statement was made on the social media platform X.

“Far Left AZ Secretary of State Adrian Fontes calls for DEMOCRAT REVOLUTION,” said Kolodin, State Representative from Arizona. “Voters are supposed to believe the guy calling for REVOLUTION won’t also exploit our election system to help Democrats win?? No wonder voters don’t trust our elections. Together we can FIRE FONTES!”

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes recently advocated for a Democratic “revolution” in state politics. He argued that Democrats have been “soft losers” and need to abandon their “warm and fuzzy” approach to secure future electoral victories. According to Blog for Arizona, Fontes’ comments reflect frustration within the party and a push towards a more assertive stance against Republican dominance in statewide contests.

Polling data from the Secure Elections Project in January 2024 indicates that most Republican and conservative-leaning independent voters in Arizona believe the state’s elections are conducted fairly, with votes counted accurately. The organization reported that only a minority viewed election integrity as a major concern, marking a shift from the widespread doubts expressed after the 2020 elections.

National surveys reveal an increasing partisan divide regarding trust in elections. A 2022 Gallup poll found that 63% of Americans were confident in the accurate counting of votes, with confidence significantly higher among Democrats than Republicans. Gallup noted this as the largest partisan gap ever recorded on this issue, highlighting polarization around electoral legitimacy.

Kolodin is a Republican member of the Arizona House of Representatives for District 3, elected in 2022 and assuming office in January 2023. According to Wikipedia, he is an attorney who previously taught civics and has focused heavily on election integrity, sponsoring legislation on signature verification, ballot security, and chain of custody procedures.
