Rep. David Schweikert, U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 1st district, shared personal and legislative updates on his social media accounts in mid-April 2026.

On April 15, Schweikert reflected on his family’s experience with adoption after attending a foster care roundtable. He wrote, “I was glad to see @FLOTUS today and join a @WaysandMeansGOP roundtable on foster care. Joyce and I know this world in a personal way. The joy of adopting our daughter Olivia and our son Matthew changed our family forever.”

The following day, Schweikert addressed concerns about Medicaid fraud during an event with Secretary Kennedy. On April 16, he posted, “Today with @SecKennedy, I zeroed in on one of the ugliest fraud magnets in Medicaid. In New York, a program meant to care for the vulnerable has been twisted into a fraud-soaked jobs scheme, with roughly 250,000 enrollees, about 400,000 caregivers, and spending that exploded”. A subsequent post included only a link: “https://t.co/T2RFBZUYLj”.

Schweikert has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Harry Mitchell and previously held office in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. He is currently serving his term after winning reelection against Amish Shah in 2024 by securing approximately 51.9% of the vote and defeating Jevin Hodge in the closely contested 2022 race.
He was born in Los Angeles in 1962 and resides in Fountain Hills.
Schweikert holds degrees from Arizona State University (1988; BS) and completed further studies there in 2005.
