Rep. David Schweikert, who represents Arizona’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed economic and healthcare issues in a series of posts on March 18, 2026.

In an early message that day, Schweikert declared, “The health care revolution is here.” (March 18, 2026).

Later that afternoon, he highlighted concerns about the national debt with a post stating, “We just crossed $39 trillion in debt. That number should scare anyone with children or anyone hoping to retire with some dignity. The interest bill keeps climbing. Every year we refuse to deal with the math leaves your family with a weaker country.” (March 18, 2026).

That evening, Schweikert continued his commentary on fiscal matters by asking, “At what point do we stop calling this budgeting and start calling it national decline? We went from $38 trillion to $39 trillion in debt in 147 days. Debt moving that fast means interest takes a bigger cut and the debt markets get a bigger say. If we intend to save this” (March 18, 2026).

Schweikert has served as Arizona’s representative since 2011 after replacing Harry Mitchell and previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. He was born in Los Angeles in 1962 and currently resides in Fountain Hills at age 61. Schweikert holds two degrees from Arizona State University (1988 and 2005). In recent elections for Arizona’s first congressional district, he won against Jevin Hodge in 2022 by a narrow margin of roughly one percent and secured re-election against Amish Shah in 2024 with just over half of the vote.
