Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 1st district since 2011, recently shared updates on social media regarding his engagement with Parkinson’s advocates, concerns about federal borrowing, and recognition of the U.S. Border Patrol.
On May 26, 2026, Schweikert posted about participating in a discussion focused on medical research and innovation: “I was glad to join Parkinson’s advocates yesterday for a conversation on research, policy, and how we make sure innovation reaches the people who need it. Thank you for having me.”
Later that day, he addressed fiscal policy and federal spending, “Washington is borrowing over $90,000 every second. If the recent move in interest rates sticks, that adds another $2 trillion in interest over the next ten years. We cannot continue to spend this way.”
On May 28, 2026, Schweikert acknowledged the anniversary of a federal agency, “Happy Birthday to the U.S. Border Patrol. Thank you to the agents who protect our border and help keep Arizona safe.”
Schweikert has served in Congress since replacing Harry Mitchell in 2011 and previously held office in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. He is an alumnus of Arizona State University and resides in Fountain Hills. In recent elections, he secured victories against Amish Shah in 2024 with 51.9% of the vote and Jevin Hodge in 2022 with 50.4%.
