Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman from Arizona who won reelection in 2024 and 2022, recently shared his positions on government spending, international affairs, and Holocaust remembrance through a series of posts on X.
On January 26, 2026, Schweikert explained his opposition to a legislative measure by stating, “I voted no because adding more welfare while we borrow $71,000 a second isn’t protecting taxpayers.”
Addressing developments in the Middle East on January 27, he commented on the return of an Israeli hostage: “After 843 days, the final October 7 hostage has been returned to Israel. My heart is with the families who have carried this grief.
As long as Hamas terrorists exist, Israel has every right to hunt them down and protect its people, and I will keep supporting our ally as it does.”
Later that day, marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Schweikert posted: “On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the communities erased with them.
Our responsibility is to confront antisemitism wherever it appears and tell the truth about this history so this kind of evil is never”
Schweikert’s statements come after his recent electoral victories. In 2024 he defeated Amish Shah in Arizona’s general election with 51.9% of the vote. Two years earlier in 2022 he narrowly won against Jevin Hodge with just over half of the votes cast.
His social media activity reflects ongoing debates about fiscal policy in Congress as well as continued U.S. support for Israel amid regional conflict and efforts to combat antisemitism globally.
