Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman from Arizona who won re-election in 2024 against Amish Shah, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues ranging from law enforcement to fiscal policy and community loss.
On January 24, 2026, Schweikert criticized Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ approach to prosecuting violent crime, writing: “If Kris Mayes can’t handle what any first-year prosecutor understands, drawing a hard line against violence, she should find a different line of work.”
Later the same day, Schweikert expressed condolences over the death of Yvonne Fedderson, co-founder of Childhelp. He stated: “I was saddened to hear of the passing of Yvonne Fedderson at 90. Through Childhelp, she spent decades building something that protects kids who cannot protect themselves. I’m praying for everyone who loved her, and for the many lives she touched. May we honor her by choosing the”.
The following morning on January 25, Schweikert turned his attention to national fiscal concerns and health care reform: “We’re borrowing $71,000 every second. The internet rewards confidence. The bond market rewards receipts. When you confuse the two, working families pay. Fix interest and health care. Start by stripping the games out of Medicare Advantage, then legalize the tech that cuts”.
Schweikert’s comments come after he secured re-election in 2024 with 51.9% of the vote against Democrat Amish Shah—a narrow but clear victory reflecting ongoing competitiveness in his district (source: election results). In his previous campaign in 2022, he also won by a slim margin against Jevin Hodge with just over half the vote.
Schweikert’s recent posts highlight his focus on criminal justice accountability, fiscal responsibility at the federal level, and recognition of local leaders in child welfare.
