Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman, recently shared several updates on his social media accounts, addressing topics ranging from community support during international conflict to critiques of healthcare spending and fiscal policy.
On January 7, 2026, Schweikert acknowledged the gratitude shown by a local religious leader: “Saturday evening, Rabbi Kahn was kind to present this piece of art as a thank you to our team. This summer, when the war broke out, our staff helped bring home young people who were in Israel on Birthright. Thank you to Congregation Beth Israel.” He highlighted his office’s role in assisting constituents during an overseas crisis.
The following day, January 8, 2026, Schweikert turned his attention to healthcare expenditures: “Billions are paid for care that never happens and to insurers with no incentive to cut costs. That’s not health care.” Later that same day, he commented on government spending priorities: “I’m not interested in nation-building. I’m interested in outcomes that don’t blow up the balance sheet.”
Schweikert has maintained his seat through recent competitive elections. In 2024, he defeated Amish Shah in the general election with 51.9% of the vote compared to Shah’s 48.1%. In the previous cycle in 2022, he narrowly won against Jevin Hodge by a margin of less than one percent.
