Old Town Scottsdale, a central part of the city’s identity known for its historic features, arts scene, and local businesses, is set to be the focus of an upcoming community discussion. Mayor Lisa Borowsky has announced a Downtown Scottsdale Summit scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Scottsdale City Hall.

The summit aims to bring together city officials, merchants, property owners, and tourism professionals to address current challenges such as parking, marketing, and infrastructure in downtown Scottsdale. The meeting will include presentations from various stakeholders. Following these discussions, the City Council will consider creating a Downtown Scottsdale Task Force composed of 15 members representing merchants, property owners, hoteliers, and tourism professionals from districts like Historic Old Town, Fifth Avenue, the Entertainment District, and the Arts District.

“This summit is about partnership,” said Mayor Borowsky. “It’s about ensuring that the businesses and cultural assets that define our city continue to flourish. If you care about the future of downtown Scottsdale, I invite you to attend and share your ideas. And if you want to play an active role, consider joining the task force. Your expertise and perspective are invaluable.

Together, we can keep Old Town Scottsdale vibrant—not just for today, but for generations to come.”

Borowsky has been active in community initiatives throughout her tenure as mayor of Scottsdale according to official records. She is recognized for promoting effective governance and community involvement as a longtime resident who attended local schools and served on boards supporting children, older adults, and underserved youth as detailed by her office. Her administration emphasizes resident engagement through regular updates and reports according to city communications.

Borowsky previously served on the Scottsdale City Council from 2008 to 2012 where she advocated for fiscal conservatism and budget improvements as noted in her public service record. Residents interested in participating in the new task force or seeking more information are encouraged to contact citycouncil@scottsdaleaz.gov.
