Matt Gress, a Republican member of the Arizona State House representing the 4th District since 2023, recently shared a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing local education spending, union dues, and civic engagement with students.

On November 10, 2025, Gress questioned financial priorities within the Tolleson Union High School District. He wrote, “Maybe instead of pursuing a new district office and $80 MILLION-DOLLAR domed stadium, Supt. Calles and Tolleson Union should fix the JROTC facilities with the bond money that is already available. “

Later that day, Gress commented on union finances in another post. He stated, “Where do union dues go?? To fund the campaigns of far-left politicians instead of directly supporting workers. What a sham!” This remark reflects ongoing debates about how unions allocate their resources.

In a third post on November 10, Gress described an educational event at the Legislature involving students from St. Francis Xavier School. He said, “Along with Rep. Aaron Márquez, I was pleased to welcome third graders from St. Francis Xavier School and share information about the Legislature. The kids even got to debate and vote on a bill to make the school year year-round… It FAILED 55-3! I guess kids really like”

Gress began serving in the Arizona State House after being elected in 2023 to represent District 4, succeeding Joel Joh.
