Matt Gress, a Republican member of the Arizona State House representing the 4th District since 2023, recently shared several statements on his Twitter account addressing local policy issues and commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

On January 16, 2026, Gress criticized a recent veto by Governor Hobbs regarding tax reductions. He wrote: “This is very unfortunate for everyday, hard-working Arizonans and small businesses. This veto creates huge uncertainty, and denies working people of the very tax reductions Governor Hobbs claimed to support. We should all be able to agree that tips, overtime and social security”.

Two days later, on January 17, 2026, Gress highlighted progress on transportation infrastructure in Phoenix. He stated: “FINALLY: Repavement and rehabilitation coming to the 51! Proud to have held out my vote for Prop 479 — in the face of massive pressure and lobbying — to insist this got done for our community and this vital artery of metro Phoenix. Smoother commutes ahead, with far fewer”.

On January 19, 2026, Gress marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a reflection on leadership and moral clarity. He posted: “On this day, we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. and the moral clarity he represented. He once said, ‘The time is always right to do what is right.’ A reminder that leadership begins with courage, and that doing what is right is never optional, even when it’s difficult.”

Gress was elected to represent Arizona’s 4th House District in 2023 after replacing former state representative Joel Joh.
