The northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Raintree Drive in north Scottsdale has reopened following reconstruction, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The department announced that the ramp is now open to traffic after completion of work.

Drivers should be aware of upcoming closures and restrictions between October 1 and October 6. Southbound Pima Road at Loop 101 will be reduced to two lanes for about three weeks starting late Wednesday, October 1. The two left turn lanes onto the southbound Loop 101 on-ramp and frontage road will remain open during this period.

Westbound Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed at Loop 101 from Thursday night, October 2, until early Friday morning, October 3. Law enforcement officers will direct access to businesses along the north side of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard between 90th Street and Loop 101. Detours are available via southbound 90th Street to westbound Raintree Drive, then northbound Hayden Road to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard or using the southbound Loop 101 frontage road.

Southbound Loop 101 between Princess Drive/Pima Road and Shea Boulevard will be closed from Friday night, October 3, through early Monday morning, October 6. On-ramps at Scottsdale and Hayden roads will also be closed during this time. Drivers may use southbound Scottsdale Road to eastbound Shea Boulevard as an alternative route.

Recent storms have impacted work on the Pima Road Improvement Project corridor running from McDowell Road to Loop 101. Flooding has led to closure of the Indian School Road and Pima Road intersection until early Wednesday, October 1. A sinkhole between Thomas and McDowell Roads has caused a closure expected to last about a week, while asphalt damage north of McDonald up to Krail Street—including the Arizona Canal crossing—remains closed until further notice.

Scottsdale’s newest fire station is now operational in the city’s northern area. Fire Station 612 opened September 22 at Hayden Road and Mayo Boulevard. The public can tour the facility during an open house from 9–11 a.m., Friday, October 3, meet fire personnel, explore features of the station, and learn more about its role in community safety.

The new fire station expects over 2,000 incidents annually and aims to improve emergency response times in surrounding neighborhoods. The building spans approximately 12,000 square feet with staffing that includes a four-person engine company and a two-person battalion chief unit as well as specialized vehicles for various emergencies.

Residents are invited to recycle old electronics at Scottsdale’s North Corp Yard on Saturday, October 4 from 7:30 a.m.–2 p.m., located at 9191 E. San Salvador Drive. Proof of residency is required for participation in this free event provided by Scottsdale Solid Waste.

Public meetings scheduled for the week include a City Council Special Meeting Tuesday afternoon (September 30) followed by regular council sessions later that day; additional meetings are set for next week including Library Board Regular Meeting (October 8) and Veterans Advisory Commission (October 8).

Several community events are planned in coming days:
– The Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market reopens Saturday (October 4), offering products from over one hundred local growers each Saturday morning.
– Fall baseball returns with Arizona Fall League games beginning Monday evening (October 6) when Peoria Javelinas play against Scottsdale Scorpions at Scottsdale Stadium.
– A workshop titled “Plants for the Arizona Desert” focusing on water-wise landscaping takes place Tuesday afternoon (September 30) at Civic Center Library.
– Weekly art walks continue every Thursday evening; specialty Gold Palette ArtWalks occur monthly.
Other ongoing activities include performances at Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts, events hosted by McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, exhibits at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, programming through Scottsdale Sister Cities, among others.

Educational programs cover topics such as amending HOA CC&Rs (Monday evening), police case studies (“Stories from the files of the Scottsdale Police Department” Tuesday afternoon), grass-to-xeriscape conversion tips (Saturday morning), and an overview session on city finances scheduled later in October.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park marks its fiftieth year with new amenities—a large indoor play space and splashpad—funded by voter-approved bonds along with support from local organizations (TheRailroadPark.com). Attendance increased significantly after these improvements were completed this summer; special events begin with Railfair on October 4–5 followed by family-friendly celebrations throughout the year.

The city highlights job opportunities such as Stadium Operations & Events Supervisor responsible for managing operations across major venues like Scottsdale Stadium and Indian School Park Baseball Complex.

Online resources now feature information about Stormwater Awareness Week including how stormwater is monitored locally; details about adaptive recreation programs serving residents with diverse needs; recent podcasts covering these initiatives; links for reporting issues or subscribing to construction updates; weather forecasts; brush/bulk pickup schedules; maps showing current traffic restrictions; among other services.
