HonorHealth’s Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center marked its 20th anniversary, highlighting two decades of healthcare service to the North Scottsdale community and outlining plans for future expansion.
The hospital opened in 2005 after the Scottsdale City Council unanimously approved its vision and zoning. Since then, Thompson Peak has received several recognitions for quality and safety, including Medicare 5-star ratings, Leapfrog “A” safety grades, a High Performing Hospital designation from U.S. News & World Report, and Magnet recognition for nursing excellence.
“Twenty years ago, our community leaders and neighbors placed their trust in us to create a hospital that would serve North Scottsdale for generations,” said Jose Romo, vice president and hospital administrator at HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center. “As we honor that commitment today, we are preparing for the future by responsibly building on our original agreement with the City to ensure our high-quality care and breadth of services remain accessible for decades to come.”
HonorHealth announced that the next phase for Thompson Peak will include constructing a new patient care building. This expansion will add 56 beds, operating rooms, and medical office space. The project is set to be completed within the next few years under the current city-approved zoning and development plan. This will allow the hospital to adjust to changing healthcare needs while maintaining its commitments from 20 years ago.
“As Scottsdale’s hometown healthcare provider for more than 60 years, HonorHealth has always planned ahead to meet community needs,” said Todd LaPorte, CEO of HonorHealth. “This next chapter at Thompson Peak reflects both our responsibility to the city and our promise to provide exceptional care to the patients and families who count on us.”
The anniversary event was attended by local elected officials, HonorHealth leaders, staff members, physicians, volunteers, and community partners.
HonorHealth operates as one of Arizona’s largest nonprofit healthcare systems with nine acute-care hospitals and a broad network that includes primary care, specialty services, urgent care clinics, cancer care centers, outpatient surgery facilities, clinical research programs, medical education initiatives, a foundation, an accountable care organization, and various community services.
