HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center’s Critical Care Department has received the Bronze Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). This award is given to hospital units that show strong patient outcomes, effective nursing leadership, and a positive work environment.
HonorHealth now holds 12 Beacon designations across its five medical centers. These units make up three-quarters of all Beacon-recognized units in Arizona, which is more than any other health system in the state. The organization serves over five million people in the greater Phoenix area and operates nine acute-care hospitals as part of its network.
John Bowles, vice president and chief nursing officer at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, said, “This award is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our nursing team. Our nurses are deeply committed to patient safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate care. This recognition reflects the exceptional work happening every day in our critical care unit.”
Teresa Connolly, enterprise chief nursing executive for HonorHealth, added, “Beacon recognition reinforces our mission to improve the health and well-being of those we serve. It reflects the strength of our nursing teams and the collaborative culture that drives quality, innovation, and trust across our organization.”
The AACN Beacon Award recognizes hospital units that use evidence-based practices to improve patient care and support their staff. The honor highlights an ongoing focus on quality improvement within HonorHealth’s critical care services.
