Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky announced on May 4 the launch of the Downtown Scottsdale Task Force, a group designed to bring together business leaders, property owners, and community stakeholders to guide the long-term direction of Old Town Scottsdale.
The formation of this advisory body aims to ensure that each of Old Town’s traditional districts—the Arts District, Historic District, Entertainment District, and Fifth Avenue Shopping District—has representation in shaping downtown’s future. The initiative seeks to address issues related to vitality, safety, and character for years ahead.
“Old Town is one of Scottsdale’s most popular destinations,” Borowsky said. “This task force brings together individuals who care deeply about the future of Old Town and are committed to working collaboratively to ensure the area remains vibrant, safe, competitive, and highly successful for generations to come. A huge thank you to all of the members of the Downtown Scottsdale Task Force for their willingness to dedicate valuable time, vision, and leadership to our community.”
Ryan Hibbert serves as chairman of the new task force. “Downtown Scottsdale plays a critical role in our city’s economic and cultural identity,” Hibbert said. “I’m honored to serve as chairman and to work alongside this diverse group of stakeholders to bring thoughtful, solutions-oriented recommendations forward that support both businesses and residents while preserving what makes Old Town special.”
Borowsky has supported community service initiatives for children, older adults, and underprivileged youth through board roles according to the official website. The mayor’s office has also emphasized resident engagement through updates and reports according to the official website. Borowsky currently serves as mayor according to the official website after previously serving on City Council from 2008-2012 where she advocated for fiscal conservatism and budget improvements according to the official website. She has maintained lifelong residency in Scottsdale according to the official website.
