Families and nature enthusiasts are invited to attend Desert Discovery Day, a free community event hosted by Desert Foothills Land Trust at the Jewel of the Creek Preserve in Cave Creek, Arizona. The event is scheduled for November 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Desert Discovery Day aims to introduce attendees to the Sonoran Desert ecosystem through interactive activities and educational exhibits. The event is open to all ages and provides opportunities for hands-on learning about local wildlife, conservation efforts, and the region’s natural history.

“Desert Discovery Day is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of our desert,” said Vicki Preston, President & CEO of Desert Foothills Land Trust. “This event reflects our ongoing dedication to land conservation and our commitment to connecting people to nature. We’re excited to offer families and individuals the chance to build stronger connections with nature and each other while exploring what makes our Sonoran Desert special.”

Participants will be able to use discovery maps as they explore the preserve, engage with interactive displays, meet native animals up close, and learn from local organizations focused on desert awareness and preservation.

The event is supported by several community partners including Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas, Carefree Physical Therapy, Kiwanis Club of Carefree, Town of Cave Creek, Arizona Wildlife Federation, Cave Creek Museum, Desert Awareness Committee, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation, Rattlesnake Solutions, and Wild at Heart Raptors. Each partner will provide information or activities related to their expertise in desert life or conservation.

Desert Foothills Land Trust has conserved nearly 1,100 acres across 30 preserves in the North Valley area. Many of these preserves are accessible for public exploration. The organization was re-accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission in 2022.
