Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman from Arizona who secured re-election in both 2022 and 2024, recently addressed a range of topics on his social media account, including federal financial obligations, space weather phenomena, and civil rights remembrance.
On January 16, 2026, Schweikert commented on fiscal policy and entitlement programs: “Washington runs the three-cups-and-a-ball routine every day. Watch the hands and you miss the math.
Americans earned Social Security and Medicare. We have an obligation to finance the promises we made by bending health care costs and boosting productivity with technology.”
Four days later, on January 20, 2026, he informed constituents about an unusual celestial event: “Keep an eye on the sky tonight. NOAA says a strong geomagnetic storm could push aurora sightings farther south than normal — even into parts of Arizona.
If you’re out later, find a darker spot, look north, and try Night Mode on your phone.”
Also on January 20, Schweikert marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day by stating: “On MLK Day, we remember Dr. King’s leadership and the importance of treating every person with dignity and respect.”
Schweikert has represented his district through multiple closely contested elections. In 2024, he won against Amish Shah with 51.9% of the vote compared to Shah’s 48.1%. In the previous election cycle in 2022, he narrowly defeated Jevin Hodge by a margin of less than one percent.
