Rep. David Schweikert, U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 1st district since 2011, has recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing topics ranging from federal spending on Medicare to food stamp policy and local community events.

On February 4, 2026, Schweikert raised concerns about the sustainability of Medicare spending in a post stating, “Washington politicians keep promising they will protect seniors, but almost no one is willing to walk through the math on what is coming.

Medicare is about a $1 trillion program headed toward $2 trillion in a little over six years. On almost the same timeline the trust funds for”.

The following day, on February 5, 2026, he posed a question regarding nutrition assistance programs: “Should there be limits on using food stamps to buy candy?”

Schweikert also highlighted his involvement in community activities with a post on February 7, 2026: “The kids joined me for the ribbon-cutting at the new Handel’s ice cream shop, and yes, they got ice cream.”

Schweikert’s comments come as he continues his tenure in Congress after winning re-election against Amish Shah in 2024 by securing 51.9% of the vote and previously defeating Jevin Hodge in 2022 with a narrow margin of victory.
