Rep. David Schweikert, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in both 2022 and 2024, recently shared his views on inflation, immigration enforcement, and Medicare policy through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On January 22, 2026, Schweikert commented on the latest inflation data: “Here’s the good news: the inflation reading is calm. 0.21% on headline PCE, 0.16% core. 2.77% over the year, 2.79% core. Here’s the catch: Americans are spending more while saving less. Real PCE up 0.30% ($50.36B). Savings rate down to 3.5%. That’s a lot of families covering”.
In another post dated January 23, 2026, Schweikert stated his position on immigration law enforcement: “I support full enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws.”
Later that same day, he addressed concerns about Medicare’s financial sustainability by referencing a question posed to UnitedHealthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley: “I asked @UHC CEO Stephen Hemsley the question Washington avoids. If the original design was 95% of fee-for-service, why are we debating a system that shows up as 120% in the MedPAC report? We have six and a half years before the Medicare trust fund is gone. Bring the actuaries.”
Schweikert’s comments come after successful campaigns in recent election cycles; he secured victory over Jevin Hodge in the closely contested 2022 general election with just over half of the vote and again defeated Amish Shah in the 2024 general election with approximately 52 percent of ballots cast.
These statements reflect Schweikert’s ongoing engagement with fiscal policy issues and national debates on healthcare and immigration.
