U.S. Representative David Schweikert, who serves Arizona’s 1st district, used his social media platform on May 11 and 12, 2026, to address concerns about federal borrowing and promote constituent services.
On May 11, Schweikert wrote, “Washington is now borrowing money to pay interest on the money it already borrowed.” The following day, he highlighted the role of constituent services in Congress, posting, “Constituents services are a great part of what U.S. Representatives do in Congress. Need help with a Federal Agency? Or scheduling a Capitol Tour? Follow this link to my website and see what our office can do for you https://t.co/cOurPGwQy2 https://t.co/OCSljhGQYE” Later that day, Schweikert reiterated his criticism of federal fiscal policy by stating, “Borrowing is just a tax with interest. Washington spends it today and sends the bill to your kids.”
Schweikert has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Harry Mitchell and currently represents Arizona’s 1st district. He previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. Born in Los Angeles in 1962 and now residing in Fountain Hills at age 61, Schweikert is an alumnus of Arizona State University with degrees earned in both 1988 and 2005.
In recent elections, Schweikert won re-election against Amish Shah in 2024 with 51.9% of the vote and against Jevin Hodge in 2022 with a margin of less than one percent.
