U.S. Representative David Schweikert, who serves Arizona’s 1st congressional district, recently posted a series of updates on social media addressing economic issues and local events.
On April 14, 2026, Schweikert commented on energy policy and its effects on Arizona residents. He stated, “In the past three years, California has taken 285,000 barrels a day of refining capacity offline. And Arizona families are supposed to pay another $2 a gallon because California’s regulatory class thinks it can repeal supply and demand?”
Later that same day, he turned his attention to sports in Phoenix, posting: “Play-in basketball in Phoenix tonight. Wishing the Suns the best and looking forward to a big night in the Valley. #SunsUp” on April 14.
On April 15, Schweikert used Tax Day as an opportunity to highlight recent economic measures benefiting Arizonans. He wrote: “Tax Day reminder: the Working Families Tax Cuts delivered real wins in Arizona. Wages up $3.8k-$6.8k Take-home pay up $7.4k-$10.6k 119k jobs saved Permanent 20% deduction for 515k small businesses 822k families got a $2,200 child credit”
Schweikert has represented Arizona’s 1st district since replacing Harry Mitchell in Congress in 2011 and previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. Born in Los Angeles in 1962 and currently residing in Fountain Hills at age 61, Schweikert is an alumnus of Arizona State University with degrees earned in both 1988 and 2005.
He won re-election to Congress against Amish Shah in the November 2024 general election by securing approximately 51.9% of the vote.
