AZ Blue has announced a $100,000 commitment to help address food insecurity in Arizona. The funding is intended to provide essential items to food banks across several counties, including Maricopa, Pima, Coconino, Cochise, Pinal, Gila, and Apache. The effort involves partnerships with organizations such as Local First, the Salvation Army, and the Arizona Food Bank Network.
Paul Penzone, Vice President and Chief Community Relations Officer at AZ Blue stated: “Everyone deserves the security of a healthy meal without sacrificing other essentials. We’re stepping up to ensure that our neighbors have the resources they need during these challenging times.”
According to AZ Blue, nearly 900,000 Arizonans rely on SNAP benefits each month. This group includes families, seniors, and veterans. The company emphasized that access to nutritious food is essential for health and well-being.
The donation is part of the AZ Blue in Action initiative. This program reflects the company’s broader goal of supporting community health needs throughout Arizona. Additional information about this initiative can be found at www.azblue.com/azblueinaction.
