Arizona State Representative Alexander Kolodin is set to host a hearing on November 14, 2025, focusing on the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) for democratic governance and election integrity. The event will take place at the State Capitol in Phoenix and will feature several expert witnesses.
Among those testifying is Diane Cooke, a nonresident AI Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. Her work addresses AI risks in defense and intelligence, including the impact of AI deepfakes on elections. David Inserra from the Cato Institute will also testify. His research covers free expression in technology and online content policies.
Connor Leahy, founder of Conjecture, an AI alignment research firm, will discuss aligning AI systems with human values. Nick Dranias, General Counsel for Honduras Próspera, Inc., will share insights from his forthcoming book on building better AI through ethics. Dr. Robert Epstein from the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology will present his findings on how AI-driven platforms influence opinions and votes.
The hearing begins at 9:30 a.m. in House Hearing Room 4 and is open to the public. It will be livestreamed online.
Kolodin was elected to represent Arizona’s 3rd House District in 2023, succeeding Alma Hernandez. He serves as Chair of the House Ad Hoc Committee on Election Integrity and Florida-style Voting Systems.
